Reflections on the Compendium Rude of the Original Constitutions of St. Gaspar Bertoni
by Rev. Joseph Henchey, CSS
These 19 half-hour lectures are from a retreat given to the North American Confreres in June of 2007. The Compendium Rude is the title St. Gaspar Bertoni placed as the Title of his Original Constitutions nn. 1-8.
These lectures provide a synthesis, summary or synopsis – an “abridgment” of what is coming in the rest of St. Gaspar’s 314 Original Constitutions.
These lectures present significant reflections on St. Gaspar’s use of his Latin Phrase: In Obsequium – used very frequently by St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Ignatius of Loyola. These texts are presented and commented upon in 19 one-half hour lectures.
